Spotlighting Third Day

For anyone who might not know Third Day, they’re a Christian rock band that is just phenomenal and after my recent interview I found out that their talent not only lies in their ability to perform, but to walk what they sing.

I’ve done quite a bit of interviewing in my short little career, but this is the first one where it was not just a job but as a really big  fan.

I won’t lie, I was very partial to this band to begin with, if you couldn’t tell already from my previous blog “Third Day Came and conquered.”

I had an interview set up with Mark Lee, their guitarist and one of the founder members.

It really opened my eyes up to these guys.

They’re not only a band, they’re husbands and students too.

I know it probably sounds ridiculous, but I’ve never really thought about that before.

Mark was talking about how they all wanted to “maximize” the time they spent away from their families and keep the passion that started them on that path.

“We spend so much time away from our family and we want to make sure that the time spent away from them is maximized to the best of our abilities,” said Lee. “It’s also our lively hood; so all those factors come into play, but most of all we started with this great vision to do great music that glorified God and that’s still our vision.”

These are guys like you and me and they’re far away from home for long periods of time, just doing all they can to make a difference while trying to make a living.

If you get the chance, visit their website: www.thirdday.com.

They’ve managed to pick up quite a few charities to help out along the way.

They’ve been doing so much more than just singing, they’ve been out there doing what they sing about.

I think that’s what impressed me the most about them.

So the main thing is they’re super talented on top of being super guys, I totally recommend their new CD Move and if you ever get the chance to see them in concert don’t pass it up.

Hopefully I did their interview justice and Spotlight: Third Day should be coming out as the Extra front for the September 7 edition of both the Washington County News and the Holmes County Advertiser.
